Text Box: HIGHLIGHTS: Occasional north valley cloudiness, otherwise mostly sunny today with light winds. Increasing clouds tonight. Much cooler, windy Friday with rain expected much of day. Dry, progressively warmer weather this weekend
Text Box: Short Term Weather Discussion: Transitory ridging will slip inland across California today as a robust storm system pushes inland across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. This will introduce some occasional cloudiness to the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, although in general the valley will remain quite sunny today with afternoon temperatures returning to the 60s while winds organize out of the south. Clouds will be on the increase across Northern California overnight as a secondary trough swings toward the West Coast. This secondary trough will direct a rejuvenated cold front eastward across Northern and eventually Central California Friday into Friday night to bring a good soaking and gusty south winds to the Sacramento Valley during the daylight hours. A few lingering showers are possible Friday evening before skies clear, north winds return to the valley overnight as high pressure is expected to waste little time in rebuilding in this system's wake. Despite this system drawing a rather cold air mass inland across the North State with its passage, the valley is apt to remain sufficiently breezy that coldest locations will cool no lower than the middle 30s by dawn Saturday
