Text Box: HIGHLIGHTS: Sunny with reasonable temps today, similar to yesterday. Warmer tomorrow with some north wind. Seasonably warm to locally hot Friday & over the holiday weekend. Slight cooling on Labor Day, then warmer again.
Text Box: Short Term Weather Discussion: A dry upper level trough of low pressure will drag slowly across NorCal today keeping valley temperatures similar to yesterday as the marine layer remains deep this morning and onshore flow is still moderate (with a Delta Breeze running steady at 20 mph at Travis AFB). However, both (the marine layer depth & onshore flow) are likely to trend weaker during the course of the day. Today (&/or yesterday) may be the coolest days we see in quite some time as long wave ridging is forecast to set up over the West through the extended period (out to 10 days). The current trough is forecast to move ENE into the northern Rockies by tomorrow followed a surface high building over the Great Basin, setting up the possibility of a brief period of offshore flow (i.e. north winds). Around the first week in September is typically the time we start seeing some north wind episodes in the valley. Don't think we're going to get strong north winds tomorrow, but can foresee a brief period tomorrow morning where north winds get up to 20 mph along the west side of the valley. Anyway, the northerly/offshore flow we do get will shut off the Delta Breeze & we will warm up tomorrow. We shouldn't quite reach 100°F though as the air mass aloft isn't quite warm enough, yet.
