Text Box: HIGHLIGHTS: Temperatures will gradually warm over the next couple of days but remain slightly below normal. Some cooling is possible by early next week with only minor fluctuations in temperatures for much of the next seven days.
Text Box: Short Term Weather Discussion: The marine layer remains intact this morning, despite shrinking over 1000ft overnight as ridging aloft starts to nose its way into the Golden State from the Desert SW. Meanwhile, a weak upper-level low is parked off the coast of California and Oregon maintaining a weak trough along much of the West Coast. Over the next 24-36hrs, ridging aloft will gradually warm temperatures a few degrees with the warmest locations the farthest inland where cooler marine air can not reach. A very strong inversion developed overnight with the coldest temperatures in the county reaching the upper 30's while some of the surrounding hills remained in the 60's. Temperatures should warm quickly with high temperatures today generally ranging from the upper 80's to the middle 90's in Lake County. After another unseasonably cool night, temperatures tomorrow will be similar to if not a degree or so warmer than today as ridging aloft allows the atmosphere to continue warming.

Text Box: Extended Forecast Discussion: During the day on Saturday, the upper-level low off the coast of California and Oregon will slowly drift inland deepening the marine layer. This will result in cooler temperatures for most coastal areas and those areas with a marine influence while inland areas see little change. Another wave of upper-level energy will dive south out of British Columbia by Sunday maintaining the trough along the West Coast with this system sliding inland on Monday possibly helping to cool inland areas a degree or two. While a long wave trough will remain entrenched over the West Coast, a building ridge over the Central U.S. may lead to slight warming for the middle of the week but models maintain some semblance of a trough through the end of next week preventing hot temperatures.
